I-ZIP® Ocular Bandage is an in situ formed hydrogel bandage that creates a temporary, soft and lubricious surface barrier to protect clear corneal incisions from the external environment when used in cataract and intraocular lens placement surgeries. The I-ZIP bandage gels on the surface of the eye without heating tissues or releasing toxic compounds. The resulting bandage is approximately 90% water.

The blue color of the hydrogel is specifically designed to help the surgeon view product application over the incision while providing the ability to visualize accurate placement and coverage of the bandage.  Shortly after application, the blue color dissipates from the hydrogel leaving an optically clear, transparent, non-tinted hydrogel bandage.

The I-ZIP bandage is designed to stay on the incision throughout the reepithelialization process, upon which it gently sloughs off in the patient’s tears.

I-ZIP Ocular Bandage is an investigational device that has undergone extensive evaluation in US Clinical trials and is not yet commercially available in the United States.
